BALLARAT COMMUNITY GARDEN

…where communities connect, grow & learn!

Upcoming events
Sunday 16th March - Ballarat Community Garden Open Day!

Who are we?
The Ballarat Community Garden (BCG) is a shared community space, where people can grow their own delicious, healthy food, herbs or even flowers in their own garden plots. It is a place where people can interact and share knowledge, where creativity and nurturing of the land can be a shared responsibility. A common thread in drawing people to the Community Garden is a love of gardening and sharing in the exchange of ideas.

With the support of the Victorian Government through the provision of a Victorian Community Support Grant from the Community Support Fund the BCG has just completed an 8-month planning project. Through this process we have developed the following vision for the future.

The BCG aspires to be a place where the people of Ballarat can:

Connect The garden is a place where diverse people connect and friendships and networks are nurtured to create stronger communities;
Grow Drawn together by their shared love of gardening, people strengthen their connection to the earth and to each other; and
Learn Through the sharing of knowledge, exchanging of ideas and active involvement, people build new skills that benefit themselves & their communities.
It is open to you!

The Ballarat Community Garden Group extends a warm welcome to all people within the Ballarat community to come and join the garden. Whether you are interested in growing your own vegetables, herbs or flowers, meeting other people, learning some new skills or simply having a space to relax and wind down, the community garden might be the space for you.

By becoming a member you will receive:
o Your own 3x4m garden plot.
o A key to the gardens, which are securely fenced, so you can come and go when it suits; as well as the
o Shared use of a range of gardening tools to help make gardening easier!

A water tank on-site also provides non-potable water for responsible use by gardeners during the current water restrictions.

We will also do our best to cater for any specific gardening needs you may have, such as access or mobility requirements, so please give us a call.

How to join…
As a member you will pay a small annual fee ($40 or $30 for concession) for your plot, along with a refundable $15 key deposit.

Contact us on 53331351 for an application form as well as to receive a copy of the Ballarat Community Garden Rules and Guidelines, which aim to keep the garden an enjoyable place for all!
