The Ballarat Community Garden is throwing open their garden gates for an Open Day!

This day will showcase our vision for the garden as a vibrant place where communities “Connect, Grow & Learn” and will include a range of fantastic activities for adults, children and garden enthusiasts alike..

When: Sunday 16th March, 11:00 – 3:00
Where: Corner Queen Street & Dytes Parade, Ballarat East
Entry: FREE

How the day will unfold:

11:00 Welcome
Entertainment provided by a local women’s community choir

11:30 Official launch of “Foundations for the Future – A Community Vision for the Ballarat Community Garden” by:
Lily D’Ambrosia, Parliamentary Secretary, Community Development

12:00 Light refreshments and entertainment continues through the day with the local women’s community choir, The Underminers and “The Acting Up” Group.

A range of other activities kick off including:
• “produce swapping”, where people bring excess produce from their gardens to swap for produce from people’s gardens;
• Sausage sizzle;
• Puppet shows;
• Gardening information;
• Seedling potting activities for the kids;
• Gumboot throwing competition;
• Scarecrow making; and
• Storytelling in the vegie patch.

3:00 Exhausted, but inspired, you leave having discovered that there is indeed much more to Community Gardens that just growing great fresh food!
